Seapools and Seatrout (May, June , July)
The lure of seapool fishing is something special and those anglers fortunate enough to experience it are hooked for life.
Our seapool fishing days are adventures into the open beaches and away form the hustle and bustle of normal life. They are jhourneys to remote places where few venture but where the rewards can be immense. Wild seatrout in stunning clear gin water.
With the pools only fishing on every spring tide they are never overfished and as such the guest angler can be assured of a fresh fish on most occasions. We only use fly only and operate a catch and release on more than one fish in order to preserve stocks.
Cost per person £100 per day or for one or two rods
Permits must be obtained from North Uist Estate

Irish Lads Glorious 360 Trout Day
With the unsettled weather of late the salmon fishing has been a bit patchy we decided to take our group of guests wilderness trout fishing in the Argo Cats. We headed out into the wilds and reached some stunning lochs with loads of islands, small bays and long shores.
The rods went into the water and began fishing drys and nymphs and were immediatley into fish, there were twos, threes taking at a time. Amazing fishing was on the cards. With a catch and release policy in place on these lochs the numbers soon began to rise and by lunchtime there had been over 100 trout taken to the fly.
Lunchtime over we moved to another loch and the fishing here was even more exceptional and with trout up to two pounds there was great excitement for all anglers. Every rod was into a fish and the shores were buzzing with hatches of flies which fell onto the water and quickly gulped by hungry trout.
Finally at 5:30 the day ended and satisfied anglers came off the loch with tales of incredible fishing. The tally reached 360 trout to 5 rods. Awesom fishing from the Irish lads.
72 Fish to one rod
One of the great experiences of loch fishing is the sheer unknown. Scale that up by fishing one of the largest seatrout lochs in North Uist and you truly are into the wilderness.
The wind was steady from the south west and the light good and from the offset our guest was into fish. Turning seatrout and browntrout with ease. This was one of those glory days in the making and with six miles of shoreline to fish the choice was endless.
By lunchtime there were 35 trout taken and returned to the boat , one seatrout, with sealice attached , lying in the bottom of the boat and all was splendid.
The afternoon began as the morning had ended with more and more fish and as we turned into a small bay the line tightened and shot off with more than 40 yards leaving the spool. Yes it was that seatrout we had been seeking. It leapt into the air a few times and was in estimate three pounds plus. Ten minutes later it was landed and weighed in at four pounds. Another two hit the hook but did not connect followed by another 35 trout. An incredible day, an incredible anglers dream fulfilled on the beautiful Geirean Mill Loch.
August 2012- The Lochs are Low
It has been a dry summer and lochs have been at an all time low. Fishing has been difficult but with the last high tides the grilse made their way into Geirean.
With them have been some large salmon into the teens of pounds and this looks promising for the end of the season.
The seapools have fished badly but Geirean Mill has had a good head of salmon and seatrout from mid July. with these rains and high tides it is expected they will make their way into Geirean Mill loch in plenty of time for the fishermen in September.
