Uist Argo Cat Adventures

One of the pleasures we have had during 2012 was the development of our Argo Cat adventures into the remote environment of the Uists. In these journeys we have been able to show people some of the wildest places and incredible wildlife.

More importantly we have been able to take guests who would not have been able to experience the great outdoors and high hill tops without this mode of transport due to disability or difficulties walking such distance over undulating ground. To have seen the elation on their faces was such a great reward.

5 Hilltops, Red Deer & Archaeology  (Day Trip)

Every Thursday from May to October

The interior landscape of the Uists is so diverse and mostly unseen by many visitors that our 5 hilltops tour is the ideal way to see the islands from a local perspective. Taking you to the height of just over 200 m immediately elevates you above what has been described by many as ”the drowned landscape” which spans for miles.

From these hilltops we can see right across the Hebrides to Harris, the North and South of the Uists, Barra, Rhum and Canna and across to the island of Skye on a clear day. Magnificent views of the world of an island and the perfect photography opportunity.

During our journey we visit ancient Neolithic and Iron Age settlements as well as recent 19th century Shielings. Often on our journey we get close to red deer and frequently see golden and sea eagles as well as short eared owls, hen harriers, arctic skuas and much more. We lunch at a remote hill overlooking the Uist lochs.

Cost £75 per person

Photography Tours (Half Day Trips)

Every Tuesday from May to October

The stunning views from the tops of the hills in Uist are spectacular. Few other locations provide such a clear view of the crofting communities, the long beaches and dramatic moorland environment. Our half day photography experiences are the perfect way to discover more about these islands with our experienced local guides.

Lasting approximately four hours we explore some high hills and remote glens in search of red deer and other wildlife as well as some lochs and lochans for red and black throated divers. These are fun experiences and suitable for all family.

Cost £45 per person
