The Creation of Unwind in Nature

The journey of life is often filled with beautiful moments, inspiration and memories. All are a part of what awakens us to continue to seek a greater knowledge and experiences. In my own life I have often been touched by the simplicity, complexity and extreme beauty of nature. As a child every moment was spentt exploring and discovering nature and uncovering its secrets.

Media Location Specialists

Over the years we have developed a sound knowledge of the environment and locations suitable for filming and travel journeys and worked closely with many journalists and media companies. Presenters like Monty Halls, who filmed his series Monty Halls Great Hebridean Escape in the Uists in 2009/2010 were amazed at these islands and in his own words described the Outer Hebrides as “our own New Zealand. We endeavour to assist all enquires with our best advice and local knowledge.

Caring for Nature

It is important for our guests to be able to experience nature at its best and we endeavour to ensure all our experiences into the environment are both ethical and sustainable. One of the ways we achieve such high levels of sustainability is through our good working relationship with local businesses and guides in each of the locations we visit.

Through this working relationship with local businesses we have managed to develop sustainable tourism which is community based. By using the local knowledge and guides we are ensuring we are continuing to support those businesses that care for nature and the planet.

All our excursions are limited to a maximum of 8 people and often less. We follow the belief that to enjoy nature it is best done when we make as little impact on it as possible. We create experiences which live long in the memory and can be enjoyed time and time again. Watching wildlife in its natural environment is the greatest reward of all and the close encounters with the wonders of the ocean such as Orca and humpback whales is an experience to savour.

Monty Halls Great Hebridean Escape 2009/2010

He describes James Macletchie as his inspiration. "Without his knowledge and overwhelming enthusiaism we would have struggled to make this series"

Lesley Riddoch

In my lifetime of travel I have explored many remote places and been enriched by numerous communities and cultures across the globe. In these moments in time I shared the world of the local guide and the nature of their home.Through each experience I discovered my passion was fuelled even more and as a result I decided to create a company that reflected all I had been shown and to give back to nature what I had experienced.

The core business of that company would be based on tailored visitor experiences, enriched by local knowledge and indigenous guides. These experiences would lead our clients into an environment which was pristine, remote and invigorating to the soul. It would be limited to a small number at a time to ensure we conserved what we showcased. As a result a new company was formed. That company became known as Unwind in Nature.
